BELO HORIZONTE, Brazil - The Brazilian football confederation has defended Neymar from accusations of diving, saying the striker is too good to cheat.
Uruguay defender Diego Lugano said Tuesday that Neymar was "very apt at pretending to be fouled," adding "he can drop to the ground and fool the referees, and the rivals."
But the Brazilians countered that argument Wednesday, saying "it's worth repeating that Neymar doesn't need to resort to diving to play the type of football that is enchanting the world."
Brazil and Uruguay were playing Wednesday in the semifinals of the Confederations Cup at the Mineirao Stadium.
